Client: Sprint Reseller Business Division
(Portsmouth, NH)
Please note: The case, below, references the year 2008. Remember back to ’08, i.e.
New Kids On The Block; otherwise, stated below will seem like a parody of modern times.
Inspiring Vision
In 2008, the mobile phone was recognized for its possible benefits while also its need for wider mobile applications usage. Often a big challenge for IT decision-makers, as they dealt with any shortcomings of the technologies themselves, and, in turn, attempting to apply the correct technology to fit the application requirements. Our client, Modern Mobile, wanted to be at the forefront of the mobile application as a “business tool.” More specifically, they sought to address (what researched show us) the most looming question marks: how to (or currently) manage mobile applications against security threats and align their specific enterprise applications seamlessly with mobile applications.
Brave Your Standard
Recognizing an enterprises’ mobile business needs was our client’s standard to brave. We sought to focus on two primary benefits:
- Recognizing businesses require service and can’t be served adequately as a collection of consumers, each enterprise has their own unique set of needs.
- Modern Mobile has the processes, tools and resources that have been customized for their enterprise clients to effectively work in their B2B environment (keep track of assets and products)
- Seek out ways to manipulate software, middleware and hardware for desired results
This creates a unique opportunity for Modern Mobile to “coach/coax” its prospects in taking this first-step, by becoming respected leaders in the following areas to advance their own business goals:
- Security Applications – Managing the software per their devices
- Customized Mobile Applications – Tools and Resources for a B2B environment
While creating business opportunities to cross and up-sell, as well as ward off customer defection, they are, in effect, building customer-satisfaction and customer-retention, as well.
Advance
The general misperception among businesses is that with mobile devices is that mobile phone will be used for personal usage and are not worth the overall expense. This creates a unique opportunity for Modern Mobile to “show” and explain to its prospects that more of the opposite will hold true, by referencing case studies, explaining the benefits (suggesting the pro’s will generally outweigh any con’s), and pointing out lifestyle and general trends with their employees and how “mobile fits”
Modern Mobile’s planning-worthiness was to become “the team of people” that will match “mobile solutions” with the enterprises’ defined business needs and goals. In turn, the team, once assessing and knowing their enterprise customers’ business needs, can then manipulate software, middleware and hardware for desired results.
Modern Mobile is seen as “arming” enterprises with an information edge, voice and data, and, in turn, a significant opportunity for their clients to meet their business goals. Together, Modern Mobile and its enterprise clients are:
Allies – pushing the Information Edge – to create Business Opportunities
This concept was used to serve as a springboard in how Modern Mobile would engage with its enterprise clients, as well as, future promotional materials.
